There are several ways to measure an IR carrier frequency, often involving the use of expensive logic analyzers. Now, we provide a cost-effective solution for measuring the IR carrier frequency directly with the Irdroid USB infrared transceiver.
What Does It Do?
The unit accurately measures and reports the IR carrier frequency in Hz.
How Does It Work?
The USB Infrared transceiver can be purchased with the optional National Semi QSE159 IR detector, which detects the transitions of the IR carrier.
With its output wired directly to one of the built-in timers in the microcontroller, the unit counts the transitions of the IR carrier to precisely calculate and measure the frequency.
We also provide an open-source command-line utility for Linux to read, calculate, and report the measurements directly to the user. The utility is written in C, meaning it can easily be ported for use with other programming languages.
As an alternative, you can use the IrScrutinizer software, to capture , decode and measure frequency with the Irdroid USB Infrared Transceiver (with QSE159 option)
Where Can It Be Purchased?
You can purchase your unit directly from our product page: Irdroid USB Infrared Transceiver.
